Facultad de Ciencias y Humanidades].https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.14492/30654Disponible en soporte impresoThis document is evidence of the student’s translation skill development during the Translation Fundamentals course by applying the acquired knowledge to a variety of documents in different formats. The students had to explore how the knowledge in translation techniques and other complementary understanding such as the context, culture, and tools can improve the accuracy of their translation, and how it ensures that the original meaning is preserved and flows naturally in the target language. The translations followed a translation process developed for the students that consisted of four steps that are: Step 1. Reading and analysis of the text, step 2: Translation, step 3: Rest before review, and step 4: Review and correct the translation. Moreover, applying a variety of translation techniques was required for the documents. Likewise, the use of multiple tools that were essential to manipulate the different formats and not only keep the original message from the texts but also maintain the same format as they were given. The use of the translation process and the tools improved the efficiency giving more time to pay attention to improve the translation quality. Also, it was helpful to deal with other challenges that required additional technical skills as translating image-based texts. Translation is a linguistic competence yet it requires other complementary features to achieve a better quality. In addition, the relevance of the technology in translation was presented to the students and demonstrated during the practices of the course. The Translation Fundamentals course has given essential translation skills to students for the ones who pursue a career in translation.en-USAttribution 4.0 Internationaltranslationcat toolstranslation techniquesonline dictionariestranslation processtarget languagesource language.Tools and translation techniques for an accurate translationTrabajo de grado
