Translation involves many aspects that most people are unaware of if they do not have the proper training or knowledge to perform this profession. It cannot be taken for granted that a person has the ability to perform a translation just because he/she has knowledge of two or more languages, it is necessary to possess certain skills and techniques to guarantee a good quality or professional translation. The content of this report focuses on the different essential stages of a translator's training. By having a good training, students are able to elaborate translations with good techniques, principles and strategies to be used in a professional approach. By possessing the right knowledge, they can carry out projects of excellent quality, taking into account all the aspects that can be used and avoiding those that cannot be used in a translation. Additionally, it is very important for a translator to have his or her own translation process, no matter if it contains many or few steps, it depends on the translator, but having one allows working in a more orderly manner. A translation process makes the work more efficient and is a great help because the translator knows the order of the steps to follow and does not get stressed, especially when the work is very extensive. On the other hand, nowadays there are different tools that allow translating a text or document, such as online translators, however these tools do not always provide a 100% reliable result. Translators can use CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) tools to speed up a translation, but the result obtained must always be reviewed. These tools offer several advantages for translators, such as time saving, quality and security of the document. At the end of the training, the students put into practice all the knowledge acquired by implementing the tools to translate important and complex texts and documents, thus demonstrating the skills obtained and resulting in a good quality work.
