"Striving for high translation quality: processes, tools, and best practices"
(Universidad de El Salvador. Facultad de Ciencias y Humanidades, 2024) Cañas Pineda, Sandra Elizabeth; Hernández Gamero, Enderly Alexander; Flores, Karen Vanessa; Torres Meléndez, Cristian Alexander; Campos, Miguel Ángel; cp19025@ues.edu.sv; hg19023@ues.edu.sv; ff19012@ues.edu.sv
This project focuses on the processes, tools and best practices to achieve a high translation quality. Throughout this final project, various legal documents have been included; documents such as birth certificates, school reports and others which were translated from Spanish to English and vice versa. Each of the tasks that were executed highlight the importance of accuracy, cultural adaptation, and maintaining the original tone in translations. Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools, like translation memory systems, were used to ensure consistency and efficiency throughout the process. Additionally, resources like WordReference and Google Translate complemented the work by providing quick translations and linguistic insights. This portfolio reflects the application of different translation theories and techniques, along with the use of advanced technologies to guarantee high-quality translations. Key steps such as the initial text analysis; drafting, reviewing, and final proofreading were followed to deliver accurate and culturally appropriate products. Finally, recommendations are provided, offering useful strategies for improving translation skills.
