Many parents wonder if there is a correct way to educate their children. They feel really worried about the kind of world their family live in and what they will teach them so they can be righteous people. Yes, the concern of the lack of moral values has dramatically risen in recent years. To many parents, the dealing with the abuse of drugs, the moral relaxation and even the lack of values is a matter or extraordinary concern. Educating people is a huge topic with no accurate recipe. There is no one who can say -being astonishingly truthful- the correct manner to rise children with proper morality. This work contains a broad perspective of humanizing the education delivered. Application of moral values and humanization as the core of education is the focus. The Foreign Language Department is not the exception in this matter. It does not include in the curriculum a continuum of moral values throughout the courses in the curriculum of the FLD. This research portrays the perception of all components of the Foreign Language Department on this matter. Also, it establishes a relation between the role of values in secular education, psychology. Second, how they have to be taken into account in the daily lesson plans to teach English as a second language. Third, to know the best learning strategies to use with the different types of learning styles that students have in the classroom. Furthermore, it is important to know whether if it is possible that all these strategies can be taught to the students; so they are aware of their learning process and improve their proficiency in using English at the FLD, and through this students can understand the purpose of why the usage of certain strategies. Moreover, once having all this information in formal paper what really matters is how teachers implement it and try to achieve the objectives relating to each course and subject that compounds the curriculum; so students can reach the main goal of not just understanding the learning strategies and styles, but apply them in real context when communicating by using the second language. On the other hand, to know about strategies and styles that work not just to improve the process of learning a second language, but once they become teachers they will be able to be successful in teaching English as a second language, because as teachers they will know when to use certain learning strategies that will be appropriate for each learning style. Indeed, the importance of reading comprehension techniques is the main issue of this inquiry. The present research provides a view about the importance of the application of literary works at early ages to enhance the children's interest and a positive attitude towards reading in the teaching English center of the University of El Salvador (CENIUES). It includes the process followed to gather information about the application of literary works when teaching children at CENIUES, the basis that supports the importance of application of reading techniques, the data analysis got from the research observations and checklist carried out in the classrooms at CENIUES, the interpretation of the results done by the researches , the conclusion and recommendations drawn at the end of the inquiry as well as a proposal of a guide for teachers at CENIUES which includes theory about the importance of the application of literary works such as short stories, poems and plays to use when teaching children.Item Un recorrido por el pensamiento pedagógico de Juana Manso, Paulo Freire, José Martí y Simón Rodríguez(Editorial Universitaria, 2012-04-01) Glower de Alvarado, Ana MaríaEl presente artículo está enfocado a comentar algunos aspectos de la práctica humanística-educativa de algunos de los grandes pensadores y maestros de la pedagogía latinoamericana como los son Paulo Freire, José Martí, Juana Manso y Simón Rodríguez. El pensamiento pedagógico de estos grandes ideólogos y maestros de América Latina, han sido producto de las condiciones histórico-sociales que han vivido nuestros pueblos y su aporte ha despertado el amor de dichos pueblos hermanos quienes hacen honor a su pensamiento. Los académicos de América Latina están llamados a rendir homenaje a estos hombres y mujeres que se han distinguido por su ejemplaridad moral, por sus mensajes humanitarios, solidarios y libertadores y por su aporte a la educación. Los aportes que cada uno de ellos han ofrecido a la educación son muy importantes y han incidido en muchos países, no solo de América Latina, sino de todo el mundo; sin embargo, este artículo solo se enfoca en Paulo Freire, Juana Manso, Simón Rodríguez y José Martí, de cuyos planteamientos pedagógicos se han nutrido muchos pueblos que viven problemas similares a los que ellos aluden.Item Reflexionando sobre la docencia como un homenaje a todos los docentes en su día(Universidad de El Salvador. Editorial Universitaria, 2013-04-01) Glower de Alvarado, Ana MaríaEn las últimas décadas se ha cuestionado la función tradicional del profesorado y se han propuesto alternativas para cambiar el rol que tiene que realizar. El siguiente articulo analiza este cambio de rol en el profesorado, considerando el aporte de algunos expertos en investigación educativa, quienes afirman la diversidad de roles que los docentes puedes desempeñar. El papel del profesor como transmisor del conocimiento que monopoliza ha quedado obsoleto en el mundo actual. Sin embargo, no estan aún claros los límites o la definición de la profesión docente, se vislumbra un nuevo papel de profesional u podría decirse que su rol será orientador, mediador, estimulador y motivador del desarrollo personal y social de su alumnado y de investigador de su propia práctica. Para la autora, introducir y desarrollar un nuevo concepto profesional implica tiempo y un forme propósito de reestructurar la formación inicial permanente, y modificar la mentalidad que prevalece en torno a la profesión. El nuevo papel docente viene determinado por la acción conjunta de la autocrítica del profesorado, los requisitos sociopolíticos y la evolución del propio sistema educativo. Many people feel frustrated when trying to study, they think they are not intelligent or they are not born to enroll in any learning process because they are unable to succeed. On the other hand, there are some others who without apparently much effort do well. However, latest research about the usefulness in learning English as foreign language has found important information on learning strategies which mean mental processes or actions used in the acquisition and the use of the English Language. Nevertheless, to make more productive those strategies students should know their learning style; this is the manner that a person has to acquire and manipulate information. Once the people know their learning style they can choose the strategies that best fit for them. This bibliographic research is a study of the use of learning styles and learning strategies in learning English as a foreign language. Its purpose is to inquire about learning styles and strategies that could be used in the process of learning English as a foreign language. It also describes the four dimensions of language learning styles: sensory preferences, personality type, desire degree of generality and biological differences. Besides, it presents the types of learning strategies direct and indirect and the benefits that these learning tools represent for teachers and students who are in the process of teaching and learning English as a foreign language.
