    Different types of translation processes to translate legal documents to improve the reliability of the translation

    This paper presents the correct usage of an organized and established Translation Process as a pivotal role in producing a high quality translation. In a common context marked by the incorrect interchangeability of terms like ‘translation’ and ‘interpretation, (despite they having distinct meanings) there is a common misconception that translations can be done spontaneously by multilingual speakers without following any kind of translation process, thus translating automatically with little or no preparation. Incorporating evidence of a personal Translation Process, this study aims to demonstrate that the Translation Process is actually a crucial part of the actual translation that should not be skipped by any new or experienced translators, and that it actually impacts the quality of work produced at the time whenever a process is not developed. This paper argues for the need of every translator to develop and tailor their own Translation Process to ensure the quality of their work, the fidelity to the source language and also to make sure the translation is effective and meaningful for the target audience.

    Fundamentals and essential techniques for a more efficient process in the translation of documents from English to Spanish and viceversa.

    The following portfolio is a compilation of translation projects carried out in a meticulous manner, thus achieving copies worthy of the required academic level. After analyzing the field of specialization of each project, with the main objective of enriching knowledge, the corresponding translation process was initiated. On the other hand, an original and detailed translation process is contemplated, where the essential steps to execute an accurate translation are compiled. Later on, virtual tools were included that contribute to the quality of the translated documents, since they not only reduce the time required to complete the work, but also enhance the presentation of the translation. These tools are resources available at no cost, but the investment in them largely determines the quality of the result. With all the resources and knowledge acquired, we moved on to the translation of legal documents, characteristics such as ethics and confidentiality are an essential part of such work. This part of the document is undoubtedly the most challenging given the degree of responsibility that falls on the translator, such documents fulfil legal functions that can severely harm the bearer if there is a misinterpretation of the original document. These documents are signed and stamped by the person in charge of their translation, thus taking full responsibility for any claim or complaint made. All this work was an enriching experience in knowledge for future professionals in the field of professional translation.

    El siguiente trabajo explora el proceso de traducción y la importancia de las traducciones de alta calidad, detallando los pasos del proceso de traducción y destacando la necesidad de tener y aplicar un enfoque personalizado a cada traducción, mientras se analiza y hace uso de diferentes plataformas de traducción y herramientas de procesamiento de imágenes que ayudan a realizar las traducciones de manera más efectiva. De igual manera, se presentan proyectos de traducción que incluyen diferentes tipos de documentos, con el fin de poner en práctica el proceso de traducción creado. El tema ha sido presentado como parte de las actividades del curso de especialización Fundamentos de la Traducción.

    Literary devices are resources that are important in texts such as articles, stories, research papers, newspaper articles, etc. According to Quizlet’s definition (2017), a literary device is a set of literary resources that help to keep one single thematic in a text. These resources are applied by any writer. The use of these devices might vary from one language to another, but in the case of translators’ work, it is essential to keep the main idea of the source text. For that reason, these professionals have to know what literary figures stand for and their use. Besides, it is necessary to question some aspects of translating literary devices. How are these literary resources translated into the target language? Did these devices maintain or lose the main idea of the original text? To what extend the translation of these resources keeps the same meaning of the original text into the target language? All those questions emerge from the fact that every language has a different vision of the world and translators have to deal with a variety of situations that include the treatment of literary devices in the translation practice. The translation is a process whose goal is to produce a text in a target language with the same idea of the source text. The process to apply depends on the field. For instance, fields like Law might need to translate literally. Nonetheless, in the literary field, devices play an important role to comprehend the ideas. This is due to the message the author wants to transmit. During the translation process, the translator has to do a lot of research to avoid mistakes. The investigation includes the consult of other authors and translators; they also need to interview the authors; sometimes they need to check grammar, literary books, and other resources. Thus, the translation process leads to the production of an accurate text in 13 the target language, to succeed in this task, the translator’s role is crucial to preserve the literary resources, especially in texts that include literary devices that contain the main ideas or meanings.

    This document allows us to acquire knowledge about translation history and processes that should be followed to convey the translation from the source language to the target language without altering or damaging the main point or sense of any document. Translation has become a crucial element in contemporary society as a need for communication between countries and cultures, breaking boundaries and language barriers. The role of a translator has emerged a lot, so in this document, it is shown that there are different techniques to be a master in translation and how to achieve accuracy at the moment of translating. The translation process is very important nowadays; it has become a global need. With business around the world, it is important to translate documents like birth certificates, marriage certificates, university transcripts, or diplomas to apply for visas, jobs, or scholarships; that is why translation practices have been created. We have a multilingual society that is growing and developing every day, allowing people to communicate with each other. Therefore, it is very important for translators to be prepared every day to become experts in any field, some experts in translation have master’s degrees. They have become experts and possess knowledge about grammar, writing techniques, cultural differences, stylistic knowledge, and vocabulary in both languages (source and target language).
