    RESUMEN: La cuenca constituye la principal unidad territorial, donde el agua proveniente del ciclo hidrológico es captada, almacenada y disponible como oferta de agua. También constituye un área en donde interdependen e interactúan, en un proceso permanente y dinámico, el agua con los sistemas físicos (suelo, relieve) y biótico (flora y fauna). Los tipos de apropiación de los recursos naturales, originan una modificación del ciclo hidrológico en cantidad, calidad y oportunidad. Es por esta razón, que en el ámbito de una cuenca es donde se puede lograr una mejor integración del manejo de los recursos naturales. ABSTRACT: The basin constitutes the main territorial unit, where the water from the hydrological cycle is captured, stored and available as a water supply. It also constitutes an area where water interdepends and interacts, in a permanent and dynamic process, with physical (soil, relief) and biotic (flora and fauna) systems. The types of appropriation of natural resources originate a modification of the hydrological cycle in quantity, quality and opportunity. It is for this reason that a better integration of natural resource management can be achieved in the area of a basin.
