dc.description.abstractFew studies have been made on classroom management and students participation as interrelated process. This study aims to explore the classroom management strategies address the gap in the literature by exploring the classroom management strategies employed by the Advanced Intensive English teachers in the Foreign Language department at the University of El Salvador to enhance students‟ participation. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected through the implementation of observation checklist and teacher interview and student questionnaire was conducted. The findings of the study provide insights into what factors influence students‟ participation and what measures or classroom management strategies can be taken. The findings revealed that teachers use different classroom management strategies to enhance participation by organizing students in groups or pairs, by turn taking control and being accessible to students, In addition, through the results of the students‟ questionnaires learners favored and suggested more group discussions and interesting topics to encourage participation. The implications of the study offer suggestions for teachers and for the Foreign Language Department on how to work to increase a positive learning environment. It is expected the study also stimulates further research which will be beneficial for the teaching-learning process.es
