Abstract

The impact of using ICTs in the English oral production of students in the first year of their major in the Foreign Language Department at the University of El Salvador. The oral production is a very important skill students need to develop during their first-year learning English in their major at the Foreign Language Department (FLD). However, the oral production skill of the students in their first year is not well developed. Because of the unfortunate remaining issue in the FLD, that most of the time there are tools as computers and radios without even being used or included in the teacher's methodology. The method used in this research is a quantitative causal-comparative research method. It seeks to find the relationship between independent and dependent variables after an action or event has already occurred. This research was organized in the following way: first, the research group prepared the experimental group in order to improve their English oral production by using ICTs in 8 extra English classes, then, at the middle and at the end of the extra English classes, both groups were evaluated by the teacher. Finally, the research group realized that according to the global result, the hypothesis is rejected because whether students used or not ICTs the final results were basically the same.
