In addition, students learned the types of texts and their characteristics. In the second module, the different translation processes were applied in order to identified the specific characteristics in the assigned documentation to be translated. The students of the course created their own translation process with the guidance of the teacher and with the knowledge acquired in the development of each class. During the development of the third module, Tools for Translation, students discovered and learned the use of useful tools to carry out a translation with efficient advantages, such as dictionaries and virtual translators. In the last module, all the knowledge acquired was put into practice and advanced software was used for the translation of important and complex documents. Finally, a series of exhaustive translations were carried out to corroborate and demonstrate in practice the knowledge and information acquired during the course.Item Learning translation in an age of rising technologies(Universidad de El Salvador, Facultad de Ciencias y Humanidades, 2024-10) Bonilla Márquez, Idalia Margarita; Torres Meléndez, Cristian Alexander; Carranza Campos, Miguel Angel; bm17007@ues.edu.svThis portfolio reflects the learning journey of a language student specializing in translation fundamentals, focusing on the importance, techniques, processes, and tools used in modern translation. Miguel ÁngelThis portfolio focuses on showcasing the process of translation, and the different types of written texts that translators are expected to work on, as well as the multiple techniques and tools accessible to translate such official documents. The main aim of the course was to consciously and thoroughly identify the different types of texts, apply the steps that each student translator deemed necessary, and use whatever tools we considered necessary to present a polished final product that was true to the source material and digestible in the target language. In order to achieve that goal, we made use of many different techniques, such as and a variety of tools that range from online dictionaries to official texts that served as a reference point of what a good translation is expected to be written. After intensive practice of a multitude of translation exercises, the results were outstanding, for we now have a concrete understanding of the nuances and the importance of translation as a vital part of language and cultures. In short, the following portfolio contains the different tasks that were performed during the development of the course, and that served as assessment tools to evaluate our skills as translator.Item Tools and techniques used for the translation of official documents.(2022-08-01) Marín Flores, Carlos Arturo; Ortìs Flores, Vilma Gertrudis; Vides Cortéz, Katherine Lisbeth; Torres Meléndez, Cristian Alexander; Carranza Campos, Miguel Ángel; MF09068@ues.edu.svThis portfolio focuses on showcasing the process of translation, and the different types of written texts that translators are expected to work on, as well as the multiple techniques and tools accessible to translate such official documents. Facultad de Ciencias y Humanidades, 2024-12) Benavides Rodríguez, Julio Moisés; López González, Karen Jeaneth; Flores Monge, Henry Alfonso; Torres Meléndez, Cristian Alexander; Carranza Campos, Miguel Ángel; br13006@ues.edu.sv; lg14014@ues.edu.sv; fm18003@ues.edu.svThis document is evidence of the student’s translation skill development during the Translation Fundamentals course by applying the acquired knowledge to a variety of documents in different formats. The students had to explore how the knowledge in translation techniques and other complementary understanding such as the context, culture, and tools can improve the accuracy of their translation, and how it ensures that the original meaning is preserved and flows naturally in the target language. The translations followed a translation process developed for the students that consisted of four steps that are: Step 1. Reading and analysis of the text, step 2: Translation, step 3: Rest before review, and step 4: Review and correct the translation. Moreover, applying a variety of translation techniques was required for the documents. Likewise, the use of multiple tools that were essential to manipulate the different formats and not only keep the original message from the texts but also maintain the same format as they were given. The use of the translation process and the tools improved the efficiency giving more time to pay attention to improve the translation quality. Also, it was helpful to deal with other challenges that required additional technical skills as translating image-based texts. Translation is a linguistic competence yet it requires other complementary features to achieve a better quality. In addition, the relevance of the technology in translation was presented to the students and demonstrated during the practices of the course. The Translation Fundamentals course has given essential translation skills to students for the ones who pursue a career in translation.Item Translation of images, legal and academic documents by following a translation process in english and spanish languages(2022-01-01) Nuñez García, Karla Elizabeth; Vasquez Ruiz, Lourdes Marcela; Rosales Aguilar, Katherine Gabriela; Portillo García, Gabriel Eliseo; Torres Meléndez, Cristian Alexander; Carranza Campos, Miguel AngelThe report discusses the definition of the translation process and provides insights into each phase involved, highlighting the challenges and techniques encountered.
