dc.description.abstractEste documento presenta una fascinante conexión entre cuadrados mágicos y politopos de Birkhoff. Partimos de la historia y propiedades de estas estructuras para, posteriormente destacar la interacción entre combinatoria, geometría convexa y álgebra. Se describe cómo la estructura de un cuadrado mágico puede representarse como un punto entero dentro de un polígono convexo, específicamente en dilataciones del politopo de Birkhoff. Asimismo, se aborda el uso del teorema de Birkhoff–von Neumann, el polinomio de Ehrhart y técnicas de cohomología en variedades tóricas para el conteo y análisis de puntos en politopos. This document presents a fascinating connection between magic squares and Birkhoff polytopes. We begin with the history and properties of these structures and then highlight the interaction between combinatorics, convex geometry, and algebra. It is described how the structure of a magic square can be represented as an integer point within a convex polytope, specifically in dilations of the Birkhoff polytope. Likewise, the use of the Birkhoff–von Neumann theorem, the Ehrhart polynomial, and cohomology techniques in toric varieties is discussed for the counting and analysis of points in polytopes.
