To carry out this research, a study was developed under the qualitative paradigm. Besides, the study provides reliable and meaningful data of the population that was studied and the type-level of motivation they had toward learning EFL. Therefore, the researchers’ inquired how activities that are carried out through the use of technology could help teachers and students achieve their goals as dealers of the language.Item A Proficiency Test as a Requirement to Graduate in the Major “Licenciatura en Idioma Inglés, Opción Enseñanza(2006-11-16) Hernández Jaco, Karen Azucena; Vanegas Salguero, Miguel Oswaldo; Orellana Santamaria, William Ernesto; Pérez Mendoza, Edgar AmilcarThe investigators selected a target population of 17 students to carry out this hypothetic-deductive study. The researchers elaborated and administered an English language proficiency test, which was validated before its administration. Also, they crafted evaluation tools such as rubrics and checklists to assess the students’ outcomes in the proficiency test.Through these tools, the investigators found that students’ overall results in the English language proficiency test situate them in the developing proficiency category. Moreover, they discovered that students’ results show that their asset is the oral skill and that their challenges reside in the listening, reading and writing skills. Unfortunately, teachers do not leave their comfort zone; rather, they continue teaching in the traditional way, using the textbook, lecturing long hours of grammar with no interactive activities in the classroom. This work presents the results of a whole research process to evaluate the necessity to incorporate the teaching of English in Salvadorian public elementary schools to help junior high school students overcome their English learning deficiencies.In order to find out information about the previously mentioned situation, researchers chose different schools of the urban area of Santa Ana where researchers observed and studied different variables concerning seventh graders and seventh grade teachers. This research is focused on written errors produced when composing. English Composition I is a subject designed to train students with writing skills in order to avoid composition problems in which errors are immersed. Therefore, the aim of this research study is to find out in what manner students’ low level of English affects them in their achievement when they take English Grammar I, English Pronunciation, English Composition I, Didactics of the English Language I, and Introductions to Linguistics. In addition, it intended to answer the research questions: How does students’ low level of English affect their progress when they take English Grammar I, Pronunciation I, English Composition I, and Didactics of the English Language I?, What are the effects in students’ learning progress when they take English Grammar I, English Pronunciation, English Composition I, and Didactics of the English Language I?, In what manner do these effects impinge upon students’ learning?, and How should the 2002 Curriculum be reorganized to fulfill students’ needs?
